Push Markdown, get HTML — the build runs here, so there is no second service in the chain.
Built by
Built what
Built how
HydePHP is a static site generator built on Laravel Zero. Markdown files and Blade views go in, plain HTML comes out, written to a folder called _site. It is the PHP answer to Jekyll and Astro, and the appeal is the same: a site with no database behind it and nothing to keep patched at runtime.
What makes it worth hosting on a PHP platform is the build. Hyde needs Composer and a current PHP version to compile, which is a step most static hosts push onto a separate CI service. Here it is part of the deployment: git push triggers Composer, then hyde build, then the release swap. The root path points at _site, so visitors reach the compiled files.
That matters most when the site is not the only thing in the project. A documentation site next to the Laravel app it documents, a marketing site beside the shop — same provider, same deploy workflow, same SSH access, one invoice.
What it costs to run
Nothing runs between requests, so the component set is small: PHP for the build, plus storage and traffic. No MySQL, no jobs, no key-value store. See the pricing page for what that adds up to; the install guide covers the deployment settings.
Hyde is a young project with a small community. We list it because it works cleanly on this setup and because flat-file publishing has a long history here — the same reasons we support Kirby, Statamic and Grav.
