We find satisfaction in creating a long-lasting hosting solution, fueled and inspired by what's at stake.

# Vision

fortrabbit is a lifestyle business. As developers and product people ourselves, we created this service to scratch our own itch. We have firsthand knowledge of what it takes to build and maintain websites. We are in it for the long run. Our primary metric is the longevity of customer relationships, not new acquisitions, share holder value or successful exits.

# Design philosophy

We aim to make things useful and accessible, easy but never simplistic. We aim to help you achieving your goals. We don't want to engage you. There is no eye candy. Design for us is removing things until perfection is achieved.

Organizations which design systems are constrained to produce designs which are copies of the communication structures of these organizations.

# Supporting craftsmanship

In times of AI and no-code website builder solutions, we find joy in the ancient witchcraft of manually creating websites in the text editor. We perceive the internet not just as a platform for consumption, but for creation. A space that welcomes builders, tinkerers, indie hackers, learners, and underdogs. A space where ideas can thrive and compete. We believe web technologies empower creative individuals to achieve remarkable feats. They transcend national boundaries and foster unity.

# Loving an open web

We love open source software and heavily depend on it to provide this service. We hope to be able to give back to FOSS more in the future.

# Encourage not enforce

We promote modern development practices, but won't force them. Good backwards compatibility is one of our core values.

# AI usage

This is not some vibe coded tool. We use artificial intelligence as a tool to help us move faster. We are careful about it. Our code bases need to be kept maintainable by humans. AI may help writing tests, reviewing PRs, prototyping ideas, reviewing and brainstorming documentation, find tpyos and correct spelling.

# Sustainability

For us, sustainability has many facets. It's not about claiming a negative CO2 budget for marketing reasons. It's more holistic.

# Business model

It begins with our customers, who hopefully find value in our service, work with it, and stick with it. The same principle applies to our team. We are not pursuing this endeavor solely to enhance our CV, expend investor funds, or seek an exit. We have chosen this path because we genuinely believe in it.

# Working environment

We aim to provide good working conditions where creativity can prosper. We work goal oriented, but without rush. We don't hustle. As a remote team, the human connection is sometimes harder to maintain. Mental health is on our radar.

# Environment

We don't believe in 'green hosting', but we do best to keep our environmental impact low.

# Privacy

Not selling nor sharing your data is one of our core principles. See our privacy features page as an entry point.
