Cookie policy

What are cookies?

Cookies are text files stored on your device by a website's server. Each cookie contains a unique identifier, website's domain name, and other data to associate you. Cookies and other related measures are commonly used to track internet users across websites and devices, usually for marketing purposes.

Cookies by fortrabbit

The cookies fortrabbit sets itself on its web properties (www, docs, blog and dashboard) are functional cookies. They help to offer a convenient experience and let us recognize that you are logged in, or have set a certain color scheme. These cookies are created and used only by us and not shared with any third party.

Advertising cookies

A Google Ads remarketing tag runs on the marketing website www.fortrabbit.com and on no other fortrabbit web property. It sets advertising cookies, both on the fortrabbit.com domain and on Google's own domains, so that fortrabbit ads can be shown to the same browser on other websites.

The tag is not loaded for visitors in jurisdictions that require opt-in consent for advertising cookies — the EEA, the UK, Switzerland, Brazil and Quebec. It is also not loaded when the location is unknown, or when the browser sends a Global Privacy Control signal. The location is determined from the IP address via MaxMind.

Where the tag loads, Google can set these cookies:

CookieDomainDurationPurpose
_gcl_aufortrabbit.com90 daysLinks an ad click to a later visit
_gcl_awfortrabbit.com90 daysStores the click ID of an ad click
IDEdoubleclick.netup to 13 monthsShows ads to the same browser on other websites
test_cookiedoubleclick.net15 minutesChecks whether the browser accepts cookies

The durations are Google's defaults. Opt-out routes are listed on the privacy page.

Ad click parameters in the URL, such as gclid and utm_source, are passed from www to the signup page in the link itself. fortrabbit stores them in no cookie.
