Linode is a rock when it comes to developer friendly VPS hosting from the US. They are in the business since 2003. We have good experience with Linode, using it for external monitoring. We have also looked into Linode as a potential infra structure provider. Note that they have been acquired by Akamai in 2022. It's blending into the 'Akamai cloud'.
# Why not Linode?
It's unclear what the future is and if the current products will be continued. It appears that the offering is shifting from VPS, more to IaaS.
