> HydePHP hosting on a managed platform: git push builds the site with Composer and hyde build, and the compiled HTML is served from _site.

HydePHP is a static site generator built on Laravel Zero. Markdown files and Blade views go in, plain HTML comes out, written to a folder called `_site`. It is the PHP answer to Jekyll and Astro, and the appeal is the same: a site with no database behind it and nothing to keep patched at runtime.

What makes it worth hosting on a PHP platform is the build. Hyde needs Composer and a current PHP version to compile, which is a step most static hosts push onto a separate CI service. Here it is part of the deployment: `git push` triggers Composer, then `hyde build`, then the release swap. The root path points at `_site`, so visitors reach the compiled files.

That matters most when the site is not the only thing in the project. A documentation site next to the [Laravel](/laravel) app it documents, a marketing site beside the shop — same provider, same deploy workflow, same SSH access, one invoice.

## What it costs to run

Nothing runs between requests, so the component set is small: PHP for the build, plus storage and traffic. No MySQL, no jobs, no key-value store. See the [pricing page](/pricing) for what that adds up to; the install guide covers the deployment settings.

Hyde is a young project with a small community. We list it because it works cleanly on this setup and because flat-file publishing has a long history here — the same reasons we support [Kirby](/kirby), [Statamic](/statamic) and [Grav](/grav-cms).

## FAQ

### How does a HydePHP site get deployed here?

**Git push** — Push the repository. The build runs Composer and then hyde build, which compiles Markdown and Blade into plain HTML. The root path points at the _site folder that build writes, so visitors reach the compiled output.

### Does a HydePHP site need a database?

**No** — Hyde stores nothing at runtime. An app books PHP for the build plus storage and traffic, which is the leanest set of components on offer.

### Why host a static site on a PHP platform?

**One place** — Because the generator is PHP. The build needs Composer and a current PHP version, and running it here means the same git push that publishes the site also builds it, with no CI service in between. For a project that already has an app here, it is one provider instead of two.

### Which PHP version does HydePHP need?

**8.2 or newer** — Hyde 2 requires PHP 8.2 or newer. The PHP version is set per app and can be raised at any time.

### Can I try HydePHP hosting before paying?

**Yes** — New apps start as a free trial — seven days, no credit card.
